Warning: If you haven't read the latest chapter of Berserk, chapter 362, be aware that we are about to enter a major spoiler zone. Rather than immediately killing Guts or exiling him from Kushan, the empire's wise men have decided that the protagonist will take a different path. Leading the Black Swordsman down a dark path, Guts and his current entourage discover a “stupa” in which he will be placed. This is essentially a tomb, where the one-armed, one-eyed warrior will either have to overcome his emotional struggle or let himself be overwhelmed by his feelings and die in this enclosure.
Ironically, since the tragic death of Berserk creator Kentaro Miura, Guts has yet to wield his sword against a single demon under the watchful eye of the new creative team. On the contrary, since Casca was kidnapped by Griffith, the Black Swordsman has been plagued by inner conflict, unable to overcome his current “weakness.” Although nothing has been revealed about the challenges that await Guts in this mysterious new place, fans are already beginning to speculate about what will happen next.
